The Future Never Comes

The ‘1979’ audiovisual project from Benjamin Wynn, otherwise known as Deru, officially launched back in March when the Los Angeles based musician/composer asked people to share their history by uploading poignant photographs to an online gallery at the 1979 interactive website. Dubbed ‘a celebration of memory in its essential, shared nature’ and over a year in the making, the project will culminate on June 17th with the release of a concept album on Friends of Friends centered around emotions and collective memories from the lives and times of our generation. Each of the nine album tracks have been recorded directly onto tape and are accompanied by a short, separate visual piece courtesy of film-maker and designer Anthony Ciannamea; the first of which is an eerie night-time journey for the track ‘The Future Never Comes’.
